Diagnosing corruption in healthcare

From the politician to the patient, corruption is part of doing business in the healthcare sector all over the world. Corruption is pervasive within healthcare to the extent it has become normalised.

Information collected from a literature review, key informant interviews, and a survey with healthcare professionals was used to identify the main corruption types in the healthcare sector and provide contextual information on the profile for each type. The result is 37 corruption types organised into eight areas of a health system.

This report offers an overview of the findings from the project. Further content including explanations for each corruption type, case studies, podcasts, and further reading can be found at our website ti-health.org.
