Ukraine, July 2016 – Deputy Health Minister arrested, charged with building up bribe vertical

The Deputy Health Minister for Ukraine, Roman Vasylyshyn, was arrested and charged in July 2016 for having extorted and received bribes from surgeons for letting them work in certain posts.

The Deputy Health Minister was extorting payments from doctors for letting them carry out their work, including performing surgeries in Kyiv’s Oleksandrivska Clinical Hospital.

The investigation was underway at the time of writing.
